Why we built this experience.
Folk evenings are not staged for tourists. They are the village's own evenings, that we are lucky to be invited to.
Three generations of one family take turns at the dhol — the grandfather plays one round, then his son, then his grandson learning the beat. By 9 pm, everyone is up.
We pay performers fairly, every time. The village is not a free folk-music backdrop.
